# CPT 97113

> Medicare paid $43.35 for CPT 97113 in the office (non-facility) setting and $43.35 in a facility under the Q2 2014 Physician Fee Schedule, effective April 2014. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment.

## What it is

Prescribed therapeutic exercise carried out in a pool, with the therapist working directly with the patient. Water carries much of the body's weight off painful joints while still giving gentle resistance in every direction, so patients can move further and start earlier than they could on land. The setting is the whole distinction from land-based exercise therapy — it has to be a supervised session with specific exercises, not simply time spent swimming. Time is counted in 15-minute blocks of direct one-on-one work.
