# CPT 97112

> Medicare paid $35.68 for CPT 97112 in the office (non-facility) setting and $35.68 in a facility under the Q3 2019 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2019. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2019, when it increased 0.1%.

## What it is

Hands-on therapy aimed at retraining the nervous system's control of movement — balance, coordination, posture, and the sense of where a limb is in space without looking at it. A therapist works directly with one patient through drills such as standing on an unstable surface, guiding a weak arm to reach accurately, or rebuilding a normal walking pattern after a stroke. What sets it apart from general strengthening exercise is the target: the brain-to-muscle control loop rather than the muscle itself. Time is counted in 15-minute blocks of direct one-on-one contact.
