# CPT 94726

> Medicare paid $53.35 for CPT 94726 in the office (non-facility) setting and $53.35 in a facility under the Q4 2016 Physician Fee Schedule, effective October 2016. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2016, when it decreased 0.4%.

## What it is

A breathing test done inside a clear sealed booth, sometimes called the body box. Pressure changes in the booth as the patient pants against a shutter let the machine calculate how much air the lungs hold in total and how much is left after a full breath out - volumes that simple blowing tests cannot measure. Airway resistance is often derived from the same session. The booth technique works even when parts of the lung are poorly ventilated, which is its advantage over the gas-based method.
