# CPT 93978

> Medicare paid $197.28 for CPT 93978 in the office (non-facility) setting and $197.28 in a facility under the Q3 2018 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2018. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2018, when it increased 1.8%.

## What it is

A Doppler ultrasound of the large central blood vessels of the trunk - the abdominal aorta, the inferior vena cava, the iliac vessels branching toward the legs - and of surgical bypass grafts, measuring vessel size and how blood is moving through them. It is the standard non-invasive way to watch an aneurysm over time or confirm a graft is still open. This is the complete study; a shorter follow-up version exists for limited or single-vessel checks.
