## What it is

A painless ultrasound of the veins in the arms or legs that combines a picture of the vessel with Doppler measurement of blood flow. The sonographer presses on the veins at intervals along the limb to see whether they squash flat the way a healthy open vein should, which is how a clot is found. This version is the full study covering both limbs rather than one side or a shortened look.
