## What it is

An ultrasound of the heart taken through the chest wall that answers a narrower question than a full study does. Rather than imaging and measuring every chamber, valve, and wall segment, the sonographer records a focused set of views - to recheck fluid around the heart, take another look at pumping strength, or confirm something seen on an earlier complete exam. Same equipment and technique as a complete transthoracic echo, deliberately smaller in scope.
