## What it is

The supervision portion of a cardiac stress test, where the heart is pushed to work harder on a treadmill or bike, or with a drug that mimics exercise. A physician is present throughout to watch the patient, monitor symptoms and the rhythm as the workload rises, decide when to stop, and manage any problem that develops. It covers only that supervision - recording the tracing and writing the formal interpretation belong to other codes in the same family.
