# CPT 92567

> Medicare paid $15.50 for CPT 92567 in the office (non-facility) setting and $11.17 in a facility under the Q1 2019 Physician Fee Schedule, effective January 2019. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This is a 5.0% increase from the previous quarter.

## What it is

A short test of how freely the eardrum moves. A soft tip seals the ear canal, air pressure inside the canal is varied while a tone is played, and the equipment records how much sound the eardrum bounces back at each pressure, drawing a curve of eardrum mobility. The shape of that curve separates causes that a pure hearing test cannot tell apart: fluid sitting behind the drum, a eustachian tube that will not equalize pressure, a perforation, or a normally mobile drum.
