# CPT 92136

> Medicare paid $46.94 for CPT 92136 in the office (non-facility) setting and $46.94 in a facility under the Q1 2024 Physician Fee Schedule, effective January 2024. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This is a 1.1% decrease from the previous quarter.

## What it is

A set of precise measurements of the eye, chiefly its front-to-back length and corneal curvature, used to calculate the power of the artificial lens implanted during cataract surgery. This version uses an optical technique, in which a light beam measures the eye without touching it, rather than the older ultrasound probe method. The measurements are fed into a formula that predicts what lens power will leave the patient with the intended focus after surgery. Both eyes are commonly measured in the same sitting.
