# CPT 92136

> Medicare paid $71.36 for CPT 92136 in the office (non-facility) setting and $71.36 in a facility under the Q4 2019 Physician Fee Schedule, effective October 2019. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2019, when it decreased 11.1%.

## What it is

A set of precise measurements of the eye, chiefly its front-to-back length and corneal curvature, used to calculate the power of the artificial lens implanted during cataract surgery. This version uses an optical technique, in which a light beam measures the eye without touching it, rather than the older ultrasound probe method. The measurements are fed into a formula that predicts what lens power will leave the patient with the intended focus after surgery. Both eyes are commonly measured in the same sitting.
