# CPT 90833

> Medicare paid $69.47 for CPT 90833 in the office (non-facility) setting and $62.01 in a facility under the Q3 2023 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2023. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2023, when it decreased 2.6%.

## What it is

A block of talk therapy delivered during the same appointment as a medical evaluation, most often a medication-management visit with a psychiatrist. The therapy time is counted separately from the medical work and runs roughly half an hour. This is the shortest of the three therapy-with-visit time bands; the longer ones cover roughly 45 and 60 minutes of therapy. It is always reported alongside the visit code, never on its own.
