## What it is

One molecular run that tests a single respiratory specimen - usually a nasal or nasopharyngeal swab - for several viruses at once. Rather than ordering separate tests for flu, RSV and the rest, the lab amplifies multiple viral targets in the same reaction and reports each result individually. This code covers the smallest panel size, on the order of three to five organisms; broader panels covering a dozen or more targets belong to neighboring codes.
