## What it is

A molecular test that does not just find influenza but sorts out which influenza it is - A versus B, and A subtypes such as H1 or H3. The virus carries its genetic code as RNA, so the lab first converts it to DNA, then amplifies several targets in one reaction so a single run can tell types apart. This code covers the first pair of types or subtypes found in that run; further targets in the same panel are reported with a companion code.
