## What it is

The identification work done on bacteria grown from a urine culture, naming each organism that comes up rather than just counting how many colonies grew. It is the step that turns a positive urine culture into a usable answer - which bug is causing the infection. It is reported per isolate, so a urine growing two different organisms involves the work twice.
