# CPT 86141

> Not at a published national rate. CPT 86141 carries status X (statutory exclusion) in the Q1 2017 release. The statutory definition of physician services does not include this item. Treat the blank amount as unpriced, not as $0.

## What it is

The high-sensitivity version of the C-reactive protein blood test, able to measure the very low levels that sit within the normal range on a standard CRP assay. Those small differences correlate with low-grade vascular inflammation, so this version is used to help refine a patient's cardiovascular risk picture rather than to investigate an active infection. Same analyte as the standard test, different sensitivity and different clinical question.
