## What it is

Measures all the triiodothyronine in a blood sample, counting both the protein-bound bulk and the tiny unattached share. T3 is the more biologically active of the two main thyroid hormones, and it often moves before T4 does when the gland becomes overactive. This differs from the free T3 test, which isolates only the unbound portion.
