# CPT 82274

> Not at a published national rate. CPT 82274 carries status X (statutory exclusion) in the Q2 2018 release. The statutory definition of physician services does not include this item. Treat the blank amount as unpriced, not as $0.

## What it is

A stool test that uses antibodies to detect human hemoglobin, identifying blood that is not visible to the eye. Because it targets human blood specifically, it is not thrown off by diet or most medications the way the older guaiac chemical method can be, and it needs no dietary preparation. The result is qualitative - blood detected or not - and the sample is normally collected by the patient at home and returned to the lab or office.
