# CPT 77338

> Medicare paid $516.80 for CPT 77338 in the office (non-facility) setting and $516.80 in a facility under the Q3 2017 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2017. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2017, when it increased 0.7%.

## What it is

Designing and setting up the beam-shaping hardware that makes intensity-modulated treatment possible. A multi-leaf collimator is a bank of narrow metal leaves in the head of the linear accelerator; each leaf moves independently, and the sequence of their positions carves the beam into the shapes the IMRT plan calls for. This covers working out and constructing those leaf patterns for the specific plan, and is done once per plan rather than at each treatment session.
