# CPT 76514

> Medicare paid $12.27 for CPT 76514 in the office (non-facility) setting and $12.27 in a facility under the Q4 2020 Physician Fee Schedule, effective October 2020. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2020, when it decreased 5.4%.

## What it is

An ultrasound measurement of how thick the cornea is - the clear front window of the eye - performed on one or both eyes. A small probe touches the numbed surface of the eye and times the sound echo to give a thickness reading in microns. The number matters because corneal thickness changes how an eye-pressure reading should be interpreted: a thin cornea can make pressure look lower than it really is.
