## What it is

A short, plain X-ray series of the pelvis - the ring of bone that carries the hip sockets and the base of the spine - taken as one or two pictures. It is the quick look, meant to answer a simple question such as whether a bone is broken or a hip joint has lost its cartilage. A more extensive pelvis study with additional angles is coded separately.
