# CPT 71250

> Medicare paid $145.85 for CPT 71250 in the office (non-facility) setting and $145.85 in a facility under the Q2 2021 Physician Fee Schedule, effective April 2021. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2021, when it decreased 9.2%.

## What it is

A CT scan of the chest - lungs, airways, the space between the lungs, chest wall, and the ribs and spine within the field - taken without any iodinated dye in the veins. Lung tissue shows up well on its own against air, so the plain study is a good look at nodules, scarring, and infection. Companion codes cover the same scan after contrast and before-and-after contrast, which are preferred when the question is about blood vessels, lymph nodes, or a mass that needs its blood supply assessed.
