# CPT 70486

> Medicare paid $140.16 for CPT 70486 in the office (non-facility) setting and $140.16 in a facility under the Q2 2015 Physician Fee Schedule, effective April 2015. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2015, when it decreased 32.9%.

## What it is

A CT study of the facial skeleton - the sinuses, nasal passages, orbits, and upper and lower jaw - built from thin slices and reformatted into coronal and sagittal views. This is the plain version, done with no iodinated dye injected into a vein; companion codes cover the contrast-enhanced study and the study done both before and after contrast. Bone detail is the point here, so it is the usual choice for sinus disease and facial trauma.
