The surgeon still breaks up and removes the cataract and places a lens implant, but has to add steps ordinary cases do not need — stretching a pupil that will not dilate, staining a dense white cataract so the capsule can be seen, or bracing a weak or torn capsule with a support ring or sutures. What sets this apart from standard cataract surgery is the difficulty of the eye and the extra hardware and technique required, not a different end result.",
