## What it is

A brief laser treatment for clouding that develops behind an implanted lens after cataract surgery. Months or years after the cataract is removed, the thin natural membrane holding the artificial lens can turn hazy and vision fogs over again. Sitting at the slit lamp, the surgeon fires a YAG laser to open a small window in that membrane, clearing the line of sight. No incision is made and no instrument enters the eye.
