    "description": "A needle is passed between the bones of the neck or mid-back into the epidural space, the sleeve of fat and veins just outside the covering of the spinal cord, and steroid or numbing medication is delivered there. This version covers the cervical and thoracic spine and is done under live x-ray or CT guidance so the physician can watch the needle and the spread of contrast. The imaging is what separates it from the same injection done by feel alone, and the neck-and-upper-back level is what separates it from the lower-back version. No catheter is left behind; the medication is given in one sitting.",
