# CPT 52310

> Medicare paid $249.43 for CPT 52310 in the office (non-facility) setting and $157.55 in a facility under the Q1 2017 Physician Fee Schedule, effective January 2017. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This is a 0.8% increase from the previous quarter.

## What it is

A lighted scope is passed through the urethra so the surgeon can find and pull out something that does not belong there - most often a ureteral stent left from an earlier procedure, but also a stone fragment or other foreign object sitting loose in the bladder or urethra. Grasping forceps or a basket are passed down the scope and the object is drawn out whole. This is the straightforward version, where the item is easy to see and comes out without additional cutting, crushing, or extended manipulation; a harder retrieval is coded separately.
