## What it is

Keyhole repair of a groin hernia, the bulge that forms where abdominal contents push through a weak spot low in the abdominal wall. The surgeon works through a few small incisions using a camera and long instruments, returns the protruding tissue to the abdomen, and reinforces the weak area, typically with a mesh patch. This one is for a hernia being fixed for the first time, in contrast to a repair of one that has come back after earlier surgery.
