## What it is

Closure of a leaking superficial leg vein from the inside using heat. A catheter is slid into the vein through a small puncture, numbing fluid is placed around the vein to protect nearby tissue, and radiofrequency energy heats the vein wall so it shrinks and seals; blood then reroutes through healthy deep veins. What sets this entry apart from its neighbours is the energy source, radiofrequency rather than laser or a chemical agent. It describes the first vein treated in a leg during the session, with a companion code for each further vein.
