# CPT 33533

> Medicare paid $1,901.26 for CPT 33533 in the office (non-facility) setting and $1,901.26 in a facility under the Q2 2022 Physician Fee Schedule, effective April 2022. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2022, when it decreased 0.4%.

## What it is

Open-heart surgery that reroutes blood around a blocked coronary artery using an artery as the new channel, most often the internal mammary artery running inside the chest wall, which is detached at one end and sewn onto the coronary vessel past the blockage. This entry is for one arterial graft; companion codes describe two, three, or four or more arterial grafts in the same operation. Arterial conduits are favored over leg-vein grafts because they tend to stay open for far longer.
