# CPT 27487

> Medicare paid $1,802.93 for CPT 27487 in the office (non-facility) setting and $1,802.93 in a facility under the Q3 2021 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2021. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2021, when it decreased 1.8%.

## What it is

Redo knee replacement surgery in which the failed implants are removed and both the thigh-bone component and the entire shin-bone side are replaced, with bone graft used if needed to fill defects left behind. Revision work is longer and more demanding than a first-time replacement because the old parts and any cement must be extracted without destroying the remaining bone. It is distinguished from revisions that swap only one part of the knee.
