# CPT 27236

> Medicare paid $1,227.29 for CPT 27236 in the office (non-facility) setting and $1,227.29 in a facility under the Q3 2014 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2014. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment.

## What it is

Open surgery for a break in the narrow neck of the thigh bone just below the hip ball. Depending on the fracture and the patient, the surgeon either fixes the bone with screws or a plate-and-screw device, or removes the broken ball and fits a replacement; both approaches fall under this code. It differs from its neighbors by the fracture location, the neck rather than the bulges of bone further down the thigh.
