# CPT 22514

> Medicare paid $6,797.12 for CPT 22514 in the office (non-facility) setting and $499.12 in a facility under the Q3 2020 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2020. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2020, when it decreased 3.2%.

## What it is

The same cement-stabilization of a collapsed vertebra as its mid-back counterpart, but performed in the lower back. A needle enters the crushed vertebral body, a cavity is created inside it, and bone cement is injected to shore up the bone, all under X-ray guidance. The code identifies the lumbar spine specifically; treating an additional vertebra in the same sitting is reported on top of this one.
