# CPT 22514

> Medicare paid $7,267.46 for CPT 22514 in the office (non-facility) setting and $504.60 in a facility under the Q1 2017 Physician Fee Schedule, effective January 2017. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This is a 2.6% decrease from the previous quarter.

## What it is

The same cement-stabilization of a collapsed vertebra as its mid-back counterpart, but performed in the lower back. A needle enters the crushed vertebral body, a cavity is created inside it, and bone cement is injected to shore up the bone, all under X-ray guidance. The code identifies the lumbar spine specifically; treating an additional vertebra in the same sitting is reported on top of this one.
