# CPT 22513

> Medicare paid $6,213.54 for CPT 22513 in the office (non-facility) setting and $519.44 in a facility under the Q3 2022 Physician Fee Schedule, effective July 2022. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2022, when it decreased 8.8%.

## What it is

A collapsed vertebra in the mid-back is stabilized through a needle passed into the bone, with a balloon or similar device first used to open a cavity inside the crushed vertebral body before bone cement is injected to fill it. X-ray guidance is part of the work. This is the thoracic version; the same technique done in the lower back carries a different code, and further levels treated in the same session are reported separately.
