# CPT 20611

> Medicare paid $101.19 for CPT 20611 in the office (non-facility) setting and $61.41 in a facility under the Q4 2021 Physician Fee Schedule, effective October 2021. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2021, when it increased 4.6%.

## What it is

Injection of medication into, or drainage of fluid from, a large joint such as the knee, shoulder, or hip, with an ultrasound probe used to watch the needle reach its target. The ultrasound is not incidental: a permanent image is captured and a report of the guidance is written. This is the guided sibling of the same procedure done by feel and surface landmarks alone.
