## What it is

Cutting back and thinning nails that have grown thick, deformed, or brittle, usually from fungal infection or long-standing pressure. This code covers a session in which six or more nails are treated; a companion code covers sessions of five nails or fewer. The work is done with clippers, a burr, or a rotary file rather than surgically removing the nail.
