# CPT 11043

> Medicare paid $235.08 for CPT 11043 in the office (non-facility) setting and $160.92 in a facility under the Q2 2018 Physician Fee Schedule, effective April 2018. These are the national allowed amounts before the ~2% sequestration cut and before locality (GPCI) adjustment. This price has been unchanged since Q1 2018, when it increased 1.1%.

## What it is

Surgical cleaning of a wound in which dead or infected tissue is cut away and the removal reaches the muscle or the tough fibrous sheet (fascia) that wraps it. This is the deeper member of a graded family: companion codes cover debridement that stops at fat and subcutaneous tissue, or that goes further and takes bone. This code covers a small treated area, with a separate code used for each further block of surface area on a larger wound.
