# CPT 00100

> CPT 00100 is an anesthesia code, so Medicare has no single national rate: payment is (base units + time units) × the locality's anesthesia conversion factor — for example, about $197.89 for a 60-minute case in Dallas, TX under the Q4 2020 release, before sequestration.

## What it is

Anesthesia care for operations on the salivary glands - the parotid gland in front of the ear, or the submandibular and sublingual glands under the jaw - including biopsy of a gland or removal of it entirely. This head-and-neck anesthesia code applies whether the surgery is for a blocked duct, a stone, or a suspicious growth. The anesthesia team typically provides general anesthesia and manages the airway close to the surgical field.
